We started out in 2009 selling reclaimed and second-hand garden furniture from a rented barn just outside Hazelbury, mostly to people doing up cottages who wanted something that looked like it had always been there. Demand for new furniture that could actually survive outdoors gradually took over, and today we run a proper showroom with a small yard behind it where finished sets sit out in all weathers before we're happy to sell them.
We're still a small, independent operation — five of us in total, including two who do deliveries and light assembly on-site if you'd rather not build a six-seat dining set yourself on a Sunday afternoon.
Anything new to the range spends at least one full winter in our test yard before it goes on the showroom floor. Cushion fabrics get soaked, frames get left in standing water, and anything that rusts, warps or fades gets sent back to the supplier with a fairly blunt email. It's a slower way to build a catalogue, but it means when we say something's weatherproof, we mean it's sat outside in Wiltshire in January and come through fine.
We deal directly with a small number of manufacturers rather than buying through wholesalers, which keeps prices sensible and means we can usually get hold of spare parts — a replacement chair leg or a new set of cushion covers — years after the original purchase.
The showroom and yard are on the Hazelbury Trading Estate, with parking right outside the door.
